Bookmory-Creating a Reading Companion for Incentive to Read

Bookmory is a reading companion app that allows users to keep track of their readings, manage their personal libraries, and establish long-term reading habits. The aim was to design a serene, intuitive digital environment in which readers could organize texts, track progress, and reflect on what they read free from distractions.

The app permits users to store physical books, e-books, and audiobooks on a personal bookshelf for easy access to all reading materials in one place. A built-in reading timer allows users to see how long they have spent reading and statistics about their recent reading habits. This knowledge promotes continuity and helps users to establish long-term habits as compared to short-lived goals.

Retention and reflection are also key components of Bookmory. Users have the option to set reading goals so that they can stay motivated, and also write short notes or reviews so that they don’t forget key ideas of every book. This takes reading from being a passive activity to an intentional, memorable experience.

Created this with the intention of providing a clean, minimal interface to focus on reading and not getting distracted by notifications or clutter. Bookmory is designed for scalability, and it can be extended to more features in the future while providing a seamless and relaxing user experience.

Problems

Few readers can keep up with their reading because of a busy life, distractions, and a lack of a method to monitor their progress. Existing apps tend to be more about social features, rather than habit change and personal reflection. Reading is siloed across physical books, e-books , and audiobooks, making progress difficult to keep track of. The reading time data can feel unreliable, and the analytics, like streaks and trends, are either missing or inundating. There’s also no easy way for readers to highlight and return to important nuggets of wisdom. Combining ease of use and usefulness is still a challenge.
